For Caregivers & Family Members
Chronic
fatigue syndrome not only affects patients, it can have a significant impact on
family members and caregivers. In fact, they can feel the same frustration and
sense of loss that patients experience. And they often make financial and
social sacrifices, essentially sharing this illness with the CFS patient.
It's not only
important for family members and caregivers to understand how CFS affects a
patient and to know how to help provide support for their loved ones, it's
equally important for them to recognize the impact the illness is having on them
and to learn to deal with this appropriately.
Having a family member or
close friend with CFS can help you discover inner strength and the power of patience, endurance,
compassion and companionship. But achieving that ideal is far more likely when you also
take care of your own needs.
