Conferences: Conferences and Meetings of Interest

This space is provided at no cost to individuals or groups who conduct conferences or meetings. Many of these conferences and meetings are not subject to review, and the CFIDS Association of America assumes no responsibility for the information provided. This information is provided as a public service.

The CFIDS Association of America sponsors the Education & Empowerment Seminars, a series of programs held in collaboration with state and local support organizations around the country. Nicknamed “kNOw MORE” conferences, these half-day seminars are designed to bring CFS patients and caregivers into contact with leading experts – and one another. Until there is “NO MORE” CFS, we want those affected by it to “KNOW MORE” about it. The series began in 2005 and has traveled to Reston, Vir., Charlotte, NC, Akron, OH, Sacramento, Cal., New Brunswick, NJ, Houston. and Denver The next program will be on April 26, 2008 in Tampa Florida.

The Fifth Scientific Meeting of The TMJ Association, "Can Studies of Co-Morbidities with TMJDs Reveal Common Mechanisms of Disease?"

The meeting focuses on conditions which often occur in concert with temporomandibular joint and muscle disorders.  These include chronic headache, generalized pain conditions, irritable bowel syndrome, endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and rheumatoid arthritis.

The goal of the meeting is to discover if there are common roots and physiological pathways among these conditions, in this way furthering understanding of all of them and perhaps providing novel targets for diagnosis and therapy. Because the meeting has been designed to bring together scientists and clinicians knowledgeable about each of the complex conditions named above, the TMJ Association hopes to stimulate cross-collaborative studies as a means to accelerate research toward better understanding and improved diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

Patients, clinicians and researchers are invited to attend. For more information, please visit http://www.tmj.org/2008sciencemtg.asp.
