Media Gambles on CFS Coverage in Reno
Reno-area media outlets took a gamble on the public’s interest in learning more about CFS and the illness hit the educational jackpot with stories and segments about the display of the “Faces of CFS”traveling photo exhibit, which was on display at Meadwood Mall in Reno during the IACFS/ME research and clinical conference.
Eight stories appeared in local newspapers, including these feature articles:
Four radio stations educated listeners about the illness and the exhibit by airing promotional announcements or interviews with CFS experts and local patients. One segment still available for podcasting was heard on Reno’s public broadcast outlets, radio station KUNR-FM 88.7 and television station KNPB-TV Channel 5.
Host Sam Shad briefly mentioned the "Faces of CFS" at the close of a segment of a public affairs show, Nevada Newsmakers, devoted to the Whittemore-Peterson Institute that aired on KRNV-TV Channel 4 on March 12.
Coverage also included 11 listings in the online event calendars of various local newspapers and radio and TV stations.
