Community Momentum Yields Promise, Power
Having surpassed the CFIDS Association’s $1 million research campaign goal for 2008, the CFS community is showing that it’s determined to succeed in forging accelerated progress against this illness. Just imagine what can be achieved when the same momentum is applied to the full range of activities needed to conquer CFS. That's why we need your help.
The research campaign’s $1 million milestone enables the Association to invest more money in research and associated scientific activities in a single year than ever before in its 21-year history. Indeed, every dollar raised through The Campaign to Accelerate CFS Research is earmarked specifically for research activities.
But the CFIDS Association serves the CFS community in many other ways than just research—with public awareness and education, policy advocacy in Washington, education for medical professionals and CFS information for patients and their loved ones. The Annual Fund sustains those services. Your donations sustain the Annual Fund.
As a national nonprofit health organization, the CFIDS Association of America relies on gifts from individual donors to make up 87% of our income (excluding government grants for specific awareness-building projects). Membership dues represent only a fraction of the budget, and primarily cover the costs of producing our quarterly magazine, the CFIDS Chronicle.
The research campaign has proven that the CFS community can stretch itself and succeed. With your gift today, we have the opportunity to build the same momentum in other areas vital to the mission of conquering CFS.
By raising $750,000 in unrestricted funds by December 31, the CFS community can do just that. Ambitious? You bet!
But don’t we all want . . .
- wider public understanding about CFS
- more physicians with the knowledge and compassion to treat CFS
- our friends to understand and empathize with our condition
- more government funding for CFS research
- our good health and our lives back
There’s new energy surrounding the cause of CFS. With the Association’s leadership, we’re stepping up the pace for answers. With a gift through the Annual Fund, The Promise of Tomorrow, you’ll be investing in a future free of this illness.
As with the success of the research campaign, let’s not wait for others to fix this problem. Let’s exercise our power together, now, to bring about the progress we need.
Please help keep up the momentum! Make a gift to the Annual Fund today.
