Support increased funding to NIH

Take Action!

Ask your representative to sign the "Dear Colleague" letter

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is a vital source of funding for biomedical research conducted at universities and research institutes across America. It recently announced funding for 7 new CFS studies. (Visit
http://www.cfids.org/advocacy/2006/gac_103006.asp for more information.) Funding for NIH has been essentially flat for the past two years, making it difficult to expand existing studies or fund new ones.

Representatives Edward Markey (MA), David Reichert (WA), Janice Schakowsky (IL), Christopher Shays (CT), Christopher Smith (NJ), and Henry Waxman (CA) are circulating a bipartisan "Dear Colleague" letter seeking congressional sign-ons for a letter to House Appropriations Chair David Obey (WI) and Ranking Member Jerry Lewis (CA) in support of a 6.7% increase in NIH funding for each of the next three years. You can view the letter at http://www.cfids.org/advocacy/08-lhhse-nih.pdf.

Please contact your Representative immediately and urge them to sign-on to the letter in support of increasing funding for the NIH. Please take action now!
