Activities for the national awareness campaign will soon be coming to Charlotte. Plan to take part in these three activities:
February 1, 2007 (Thursday): WFAE, Charlotte's National Public Radio affiliate (90.7 FM), will feature CFS on its "Charlotte Talks" program with host Mike Collins. Guests for the hour-long program will be Kim McCleary, the Association's president & CEO, and Dr. Charles Lapp, a nationally recognized expert on CFS and fibromyalgia, and his associate, Dr. Laura Black, of the Hunter-Hopkins Clinic in Charlotte. The program airs live at 9:00 a.m. and generally includes calls from listeners. It is rebroadcast at 9:00 p.m. and program archives are available at www.wfae.org.
February 3, 2007 (Saturday): WBT (1110 AM) dedicates its "Health Headlines" program to CFS, with guests Kim McCleary and Dr. Charles Lapp. The 60-minute show airs at 1:00 p.m. with host Stacey Simms.
February 8-11, 2007 (Thursday through Sunday): The "Faces of CFS" portrait exhibit will be on display at SouthPark Mall in Charlotte. The exhibit features large portraits of 8 CFS patients, each with their own brief story to tell about how the illness has affected their life. Portraits of two medical experts and a banner with additional details on CFS and the campaign provide other important information. The striking photographs were taken by world-renowned fashion and celebrity photographer George Lange. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Information brochures will be available to visitors. Read more about it at http://www.cfids.org/sparkcfs/photo.asp.
Several other local/regional TV, radio and print media outlets have pledged to cover CFS and the exhibit over the next couple of weeks. As those details are confirmed, we will keep you posted!
